David Garrard is out at least one more week for the Jaguars

David Garrard will miss at least one more week with his high ankle sprain and that’s not good news.  Garrard has completed 98 of 148 passes (66.2%) for 1,141 yards with 6 TD passes and 0 interceptions (102.9 QB Rating).  He also has carried the ball 30 times for 134 yards (4.5 ypc).  Quinn Gray will start in Garrard’s absence and that’s not a good thing.  Gray has completed 16 of 40 passes (40%) for 156 yards with 1 TD pass and 2 interceptions (39.2 QB Rating).  He also has carried the ball 6 times for 7 yards (1.2 ypc).

The Jaguars made big plays on defense when they had to and they played just well enough on offense to make it stand up.  Quinn Gray completed 7 of 16 passes for 100 yards with 1 TD pass.  Fred Taylor carried the ball 24 times for 68 yards (2.8ypc).   Maurice Drew had a solid game with 10 carries for 48 yards (4.8 ypc) and he also caught 2 passes for 14 yards.  LaBrandon Toefield even pitched in with 12 yards on 6 carries (2.0 ypc) with a TD run.  Matt Jones only caught 1 pass but it was an outstanding 8 yarder for a TD.  The Jaguars finished with 133 yards rushing on 44 carries (3.0 ypc) and they also completed 7 of 16 passes for 86 yards.

The secondary was making big plays all game long for the Jaguars.  Reggie Nelson led the way on defense with 8 tackles and a interception.  Sammy Knight pitched in with 6 tackles and a interception.  Reserve corner Aaron Glenn had a big game as he made 4 tackles and he returned a interception 28 yards for a TD.  The Bucs finished up with 136 yards rushing on 21 carries (6.5 ypc) and they also completed 19 of 41 passes for 249 yards.

Indianapolis Colts 29, Jacksonville Jaguars 7

The Jaguars got absolutely punished by the Colts on Monday Night Football.  The Jags lost David Garrard to a high ankle sprain in this game but before he left he was 8 of 12 passing for 72 yards.  Quinn Gray replaced him and his night was a long one.  Gray completed 9 of 24 passes for 56 yards with 0 TD passes and 2 INTs.  He also lost a fumble.  Fred Taylor led the way in the running game with 11 carries for 55 yards (5.0 ypc).  Maurice Drew also had a solid night with 13 carries for 52 yards (4.0 ypc) with 1 TD run and he also caught 3 passes for 17 yards.  Ernest Wilford was the leading receiver for the Jags as he caught 6 passes for 53 yards (8.8 avg).  The Jaguars finished up with 117 yards on 27 carries (4.3 ypc) and they also completed 17 of 36 passes for 109 yards.

Linebacker Mike Peterson led the way for the Jags defense with 10 tackles.  DE Paul Spicer also had a good night with 4 tackles and 2 sacks.  The Colts finished up with 141 yards rushing on 33 carries (4.3 ypc) and they also completed 23 of 37 passes for 243 yards.
