The Jaguars dominated the Redskins in this football game on both sides of the football.  David Garrard was sharp completing 5 of 8 passes for 58 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 interception.  Cleo Lemon followed and he was even sharper than Garrard as he connected on 10 of 13 passes for 97 yards with 1 TD pass.  Todd Bouman was also effective in this game completing 6 of 10 passes for 105 yards with 1 TD pass.  Chauncey Washington was very busy in this game for the Jags as he carried the football 11 times for 68 yards (6.2 ypc) and he also caught 4 passes for 40 yards.  Ciatrick Fason pitched in with 8 carries for 30 yards (3.8 ypc).  Troy Williamson was the leading receiver on the Jags in this game with 84 yards receiving on 4 grabs (21.0 avg).  One of Williamson’s catches went for a 51-yard TD from QB Todd Bouman.  The Jaguars held onto the football for 36:43 of this game which helps explain the scoreboard.  The Jaguars rushed for 106 yards in this game on 29 carries (3.7 ypc) and they also completed 21 of 31 passes for 233 yards.

The defense was dominating for the Jaguars in this football game.  DT Jimmy Kennedy led the way for the Jags’ defense with 5 tackles and a sack.  DT Jesse Mahelona and linebacker Tony Gilbert each pitched in with 5 tackles apiece.  The Redskins finished up with 75 yards rushing on 20 carries (3.8 ypc) and they also completed 14 of 22 passes for 101 yards.  The Jaguars finished up the preseason with a 3-1 record as they looked pretty sharp.

The Jacksonville Jaguars sign RB Ciatrick Fason

The Jaguars have signed running back Ciatrick Fason and they have released offensive lineman Chris Liwienski to make room for him on the roster.  Fason is 6’0, 207 pounds and he plays big.  He did not play last season due to an injury.  He has played in 18 games in his NFL career and he has carried the football 50 times for 161 yards (3.2 ypc) with 5 TD runs.  He also has caught 3 passes for 19 yards (6.3 avg).  This was a nice low risk signing for the Jaguars as Fason has flashed pretty good ability in the past.

Jacksonville Jaguars 23, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 17

The Jaguars didn’t play well in this football game but it was still good enough to win.  David Garrard completed 10 of 16 passes for 118 yards with 2 TD passes and 1 interception.  Cleo Lemon was also somewhat effective completing 9 of 12 passes for 56 yards.  Fred Taylor was the leading rusher for the Jaguars with 26 yards rushing on 7 carries (3.7 ypc).  Matt Jones had a solid game catching 3 passes for 45 yards (15.0 avg).  Dennis Northcutt also had a productive game catching 3 balls for 39 yards (13.0 avg) with a TD grab.  TE Mercedes Lewis pitched in with 2 catches for 14 yards (7.0 avg) with a TD catch.  The Jaguars finished up with only 37 yards rushing on 26 carries (1.4 ypc) and they also completed 19 of 28 passes for 164 yards.

Linebackers Mike Peterson and Daryl Smith led the way on defense for the Jags in this game with 7 tackles apiece.  Safety Reggie Nelson also was all over the place with 2 tackles and 2 interceptions in this game.  The Bucs finished up with 75 yards rushing on 20 carries (3.8 ypc) and they also completed 29 of 48 passes for 247 yards.

Miami Dolphins 19, Jacksonville Jaguars 14

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,The Pre-Season by admin on Monday 18 August 2008 at 12:39 am

The Jaguars looked really flat last Saturday Night at home against the awful Miami Dolphins.  David Garrard wasn’t his sharpest as he completed 7 of 14 passes for 63 yards and he also carried the ball 1 time for 10 yards.  Cleo Lemon was awful completing only 5 of 12 passes for 69 yards with 1 interception.  The Jags really played well with third string QB Todd Bouman in the game.  He completed 9 of 13 passes for 126 yards with 1 TD pass.  Maurice Jones-Drew led the Jaguars in rushing with 12 yards on 5 carries 2.4 ypc).  WR Ryan Hoag had a solid game for the Jaguars as he caught 3 passes for 71 yards (23.7 avg) and he also returned 1 kickoff for 31 yards.  2nd year wideout Mike Walker pitched in with 36 yards receiving on 3 receptions.  The Jaguars rushed for only 42 yards on 17 carries (2.5 ypc) against the Dolphins.  But, they completed 21 of 39 passes for 253 yards.  The Jaguars still have some work to do on offense before the regular season starts.

CB Rashean Mathis (6 tackles) and CB Brian Williams (5 tackles) led the defensive effort for the Jags and it was not a good one.  The Dolphins rushed for 123 yards on 36 carries (3.4 ypc) and they also completed 22 of 33 passes for 188 yards.

Jack Del Rio has the Jacksonville Jaguars revved up and ready to go for 2008

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page by admin on Thursday 14 August 2008 at 5:33 pm

Head Coach Jack Del Rio really had things come together in 2007 and he hopes to keep the momentum going in 2008.  The Jags were 11-5 last season and they then played really well in the playoffs.  First they went to Pittsburgh and punked the Steelers on there own field 31-29 and then they gave the Patriots a good fight in Foxboro before falling 31-20.  Del Rio really knows how to motivate his team as the players seem to buy into what he has to say.  He has now coached 5 years as the head man in Jacksonville and he is 45-35 (56.3%) during the regular season and he’s 1-2 in the post season.  Anything less than another playoff appearance with at least one win would be a disappointment for the Jaguars.

Jacksonville Jaguars 20, Atlanta Falcons 17

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,The Pre-Season by admin on Monday 11 August 2008 at 8:04 pm

The Jaguars played conservatively on Saturday Night but it was good enough to beat the Falcons.  David Garrard was not too sharp passing the ball as he completed 4 of 10 passes for 44 yards, but, he also carried the ball 2 times for 22 yards (11.0 ypc) and he scored a TD.  Cleo Lemon was a little better than Garrard was on Saturday completing 6 of 10 passes for 46 yards.  Todd Bouman finished up the game completing 5 of 10 passes for 44 yards.  Greg Jones led the Jaguars in rushing with 39 yards on only 5 carries (7.8 ypc).  Rookie Chauncey Washington got a lot of work in as he carried the ball 12 times for 33 yards (2.8 ypc) with a 2-yard TD run, but he also lost a fumble.  Maurice Jones-Drew pitched in with 23 yards rushing on 5 carries (4.6 ypc).  Matt Jones led the Jaguars in receiving with 37 yards on 3 grabs (12.3 avg) on Saturday Night.  The Jaguars finished up with 136 yards rushing on 32 carries (4.1 ypc) against the Falcons.  They also completed 15 of 30 passes for 129 yards.  The offense needs a little bit of work but the Jags have a lot of time to get ready for the regular season.

The defense was a little up and down against the Falcons.  DE Mkristo Bruce had a huge game for the Jaguars with 5 tackles and 2.5 sacks on Saturday Night.  Cornerback Scott Starks also had a decent game finishing with 5 tackles. The Falcons did manage 115 yards rushing on 24 carries (4.8 ypc).  They also completed 21 of 43 passes for 228 yards Saturday Night.  The Jaguars were bending on defense but they still held the Falcons to only 17 points which was a good thing.

The Jacksonville Jaguars sign DE Bo Schobel

Blogged under Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,Jaguar Headlines by admin on Saturday 9 August 2008 at 11:41 pm

With first round pick Derrick Harvey still a holdout the Jags signed 27-year old Bo Schobel to help them with depth.  Schobel played in 2 games (0 starts) with the Cardinals last season and he made 1 whole tackle.  Schobel is backup material and nothing more as he hasn’t made many plays in his NFL career to date.  He has now played in 29 games (2 starts) in his NFL career and he has made 45 tackles and has 1.5 sacks.  This was a decent low risk signing for the Jags for depth reasons.

The Jacksonville Jaguars sign G Chris Liwienski

Blogged under Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page by admin on Friday 1 August 2008 at 3:31 pm

The Jaguars have signed offensive guard Chris Liwienski.  The 32-year old should provide depth this season for the Jags.  He played in 16 games (14 starts) for the Dolphins last season.  Liwienski is a big guy at 6’5″, 325 pounds that fits the physical style of offense that the Jaguars love to run.  He has played 10 seasons in the NFL covering 126 games, 94 of which he started.  This was a nice signing for the Jaguars.
