The Jacksonville Jaguars need more out of David Garrard in 2009
30-year old QB David Garrard needs to play better than he did in 2008 if the Jags are to get back to the playoffs in 2009. Garrard played in 16 games (all starts) last season and he completed 335 of 535 passes (62.6%) for 3,620 yards with 15 TD passes and 13 interceptions (81.7 QB Rating). He also carried the football 73 times for 322 yards (4.4 ypc) with 2 TD runs last season. He has now played in 56 games (46 starts) in his career with the Jaguars and he has completed 856 of 1,399 (61.2%) for 9,672 yards with 51 TD passes and 29 interceptions (85.4 QB Rating). He has also carried the ball 237 times for 1,144 yards (4.8 ypc) with 9 TD runs. In Garrard’s defense the Jaguars don’t have a great receiving corps but that could be addressed in the off season.
29-year old Cleo Lemon didn’t get much of a chance to show what he can do. Lemon played in 2 games (0 starts) last season and he completed 0 of 2 passes (0%). He also carried the football 2 times for -3 yards (-1.5 ypc). Lemon has now played in 15 games (8 starts) in his NFL career and he has completed 211 of 379 passes (55.7%) for 2,185 yards with 8 TD passes and 7 interceptions (71.8 QB Rating). He has also carried the ball 36 times for 106 yards (2.9 ypc) with 4 TD runs in his career.
