The Jaguars have decided to release 33-year old running back Fred Taylor.  He wasn’t out of work long as the Patriots snapped him up as free agency began earlier today.  Taylor played in 13 games for the Jags last season and he carried the ball 143 times for 556 yards (3.9 ypc) with 1 TD grab.  He also caught 16 passes for 98 yards (6.1 avg) in 2008.  Taylor finished his career with the Jags playing in 140 games in 11 seasons in which he carried the ball 2,428 times for 11,271 yards (4.6 ypc) with 62 TD runs.  He also caught 286 passes for 2,361 yards (8.3 avg) with 8 TD grabs in his career.  It’s sad that Taylor is no longer as Jaguar as he will likely go down as the best offensive player in team history.
