The Jaguars were up 17-6 at halftime in this game before folding up like a tent in the second half.  David Garrard was so-so in this game completing 8 of 14 passes for 93 yards with a interception.  Todd Bouman followed Garrard by completing 8 of 14 passes for 59 yards with a TD pass.  Paul Smith finished up this game by completing 1 of 3 passes for 19 yards with a interception.  Josh Vaughan led the way on the ground for the Jags in this game with 29 yards on 10 carries (2.9 ypc).  Maurice Jones-Drew only rushed for 12 yards on 5 carries (2.4 ypc) but he caught 2 passes for 58 yards (29.0 avg) which really helped the offense.  The Jaguars finished this game with only 230 total yards on offense (64 rushing, 166 passing).

Linebacker Brian Iwuh led a poor defensive effort by the Jags in this game with 7 tackles.  Iwuh also returned a fumble recovery 92 yards for a TD.  The Eagles finished up with a stunning 431 total yards of offense (66 rushing, 365 passing) in this game.  The Jags have a lot to work on before the games start to count two weeks from right now.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 24, Jacksonville Jaguars 23

The Jags just couldn’t keep up with the Bucs last Saturday Night.  David Garrard did his part as he was outstanding completing 10 of 16 passes for 216 yards with 1 TD pass.  Todd Bouman did not play well enough in this game to secure his role as the #2 QB as the Jags might be on the hunt for another QB.  Bouman completed only 9 of 25 passes for 120 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 interception.  Chauncey Washington led the way on the ground for the Jags in this game with 4 carries for 32 yards (8.0 ypc).  Greg Jones pitched in with 11 yards on 4 carries (2.8 ypc) with a TD run.  WR Troy Williamson was the star of the offense for this game catching 3 passes for 147 yards (49.0 avg) with a TD.  The Jags threw the football to 14 different receivers in this football game.  The Jaguars finished up with 362 total yards on offense (61 rushing, 301 passing) in this game.

Linebacker Russell Allen led the way for the Jaguars on defense in this game with 8 tackles.  The Bucs finished up with 330 total yards on offense (159 rushing, 171 passing) in this game.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed WR Ernest Wilford

The Jaguars have brought back 30-year old WR Ernest Wilford after his release by the Dolphins.  Wilford played in 7 games (0 starts) for the Dolphins last season and he made 3 catches for 25 yards (8.3 avg).  But, in the four previous seasons (all with the Jags), Wilford played in 63 games (37 starts) in which he caught 141 passes for 1,994 yards (14.1 avg) with 14 TD grabs.  With the way the Jags are hurting at WR bringing back Wilford makes perfect sense.

The Jacksonville Jaguars claim CB Don Carey off waivers

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Jaguar Headlines, Injury Reports, General by admin on Thursday 27 August 2009 at 5:09 pm

The Jaguars have claimed rookie CB Don Carey off waivers from the Browns.  Carey was a sixth round pick last April out of Norfolk State.  Carey played in 44 games (40 starts) in his career at Norfolk State and he made 179 tackles, broke up 25 passes, had 10 interceptions (181 return yards), forced 2 fumbles and he recovered 4 fumbles.  Carey was dinged up when the Browns released him but he does have a nice little upside.

UPDATE:  The Jaguars have placed Don Carey on the Injured Reserve List ending his rookie season with a shoulder injury.

Miami Dolphins 12, Jacksonville Jaguars 9

The Jaguars didn’t look to sharp on offense against the Dolphins on Monday Night.  David Garrard started at QB in this game and he completed 4 of 7 passes for 22 yards.  Todd Bouman followed Garrard in this game and he completed 10 of 18 passes for 130 yards with a interception.  Paul Smith finished up this game by completing 7 of 12 passes for 68 yards with 1 interception.  Josh Vaughan led the Jags’ in rushing in this game with 28 yards on 7 carries (4.0 ypc).  WR Troy Williamson led the way for the Jags’ in the passing game with 74 yards on 4 grabs (18.5 avg).  The Jaguars finished up with 282 yards of offense in this game (66 rushing, 216 passing) and that just won’t get it done.

Linebacker Russell Allen led a solid effort by the Jags’ defense in this game with six tackles.  The Dolphins finished with only 257 yards on offense (118 rushing, 139 passing) in this game.  The defense is looking in mid-season form already and that’s a good sign for the Jaguars.
