The Jacksonville Jaguars sign G/T Paul McQuistan
The Jaguars have signed 26-year old G/T Paul McQuistan. McQuistan played in 3 games (0 starts) for the Raiders before being cut earlier this season. He has now played in 35 games (12 starts) in his NFL career. McQuistan will help the depth of the offensive line as he can play on the interior or the outside of the line because he’s a big guy at 6′6″, 315 pounds. To make room on the roster for McQuistan the Jaguars have released 31-year old safety Brian Russell. Russell played in all 9 games for the Jaguars this season and he made 12 tackles. It was a tad surprising that the Jags cut Russell despite all of the injuries in the secondary.

Congratulations on no longer having Brian Russell. You no longer have a guy of rather average at best speed with routing instincts that are either dumb or just not recognizing having lost a step. The botched tackles, the running into his own teammates, the missed positionings…
That’s what we in the NW saw. And we don’t hate you. So - congratulations.
I agree with you Tim. I have never thought that Russell was much of a player. Sure, he would get the random INT or big hit but he got burned a lot and missed a lot of tackles. The Jags’ D just got better without him.
