The Jacksonville Jaguars are set up well at FB for 2010
29-year old Greg Jones will be back in 2010 to open up holes for Maurice Jones-Drew and he’s good at his job. Jones played in 13 games (7 starts) for the Jaguars last season in which he carried the ball 4 times for 23 yards (5.8 ypc). He also caught 5 passes for 14 yards (2.8 avg) last season. He has now played in 71 games (41 starts) in his five years with the Jags and he has carried the ball 261 times for 892 yards (3.4 ypc) with 9 TD runs. Jones has also caught 42 passes for 307 yards (7.3 avg) with 3 TD grabs in his career to date. Jones isn’t your typical FB as he can play tailback if the need arises for the Jags in 2010.
26-year old Montell Owens will battle 25-year old Brock Bolen for the right to back up Jones in 2010. Owens played in all 16 games (0 starts) for the Jags last season in which he carried the ball 2 times for 1 yard (0.5 ypc). Owens has now played in 62 games (0 starts) in his NFL career and he has carried the ball 4 times for 44 yards (11.0 ypc). He has also caught 2 passes for 17 yards (8.5 avg) in his career. Owens has a leg up on Bolen who played in his first 3 NFL games (0 starts) last season without touching the football.
