The Jaguars have released 31-year old guard Vince Manuwai.  Manuwai played in 16 games (11 starts) for the Jaguars last year.  He played in 111 games (105 starts) in his 8 years in Jacksonville.  Manuwai came to training camp in pretty bad physical shape which is what led to his release.  They will look to try to replace him in free agency.

The Jaguars have signed 28-year old G/C Jason Spitz to a 2-year deal.  Spitz played in all 16 games (0 starts) for the Packers last year.  He has played in 65 games (45 starts) in his first five years in the NFL.  Spitz will take over at one of the guard slots for the Jaguars this year and he is a very solid player.  This was another good move for the Jaguars.

The Jacksonville Jaguars sign punter Matt Turk

The Jaguars have signed 26-year old linebacker Clint Session to a 5-year, $30 million dollar deal.  Session played in 5 games for the Colts last year and he had 38 tackles, 1 sack and he defensed 1 pass.  Session played in 48 games in his first four years in the NFL and he has 261 tackles, 18 tackles for a loss, 1.5 sacks, 5 forced fumbles, 8 passes defensed and 4 interceptions (1 returned for a TD).  This was another great signing for the Jaguars as Session is a tough guy.  The Jaguars also hurt the division rival Colts by snaring Session from them.

The Jacksonville Jaguars sign LB Paul Poslusny

Blogged under Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General,Jaguar Headlines by admin on Wednesday 27 July 2011 at 3:24 am

The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed 26-year old inside linebacker Paul Poslusny to a six year deal.  Poslusny played in 14 games for the Bills last year and he had 151 tackles, 4 tackles for a loss, 2 sacks and he defensed 4 passes.  He has played in 45 games in his first four years in the NFL and he has 397 tackles, 12 tackles for a loss, 3 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, 4 interceptions and he has defensed 14 passes.  Poslusny is a tackling machine against the running game which is just what the doctor ordered to repair the Jags’ defense.  I love this signing for the Jaguars.

Fred Taylor was the main man for the Jacksonville Jaguars

Blogged under Blast from the Past,Bloglockers,Front Page,General by admin on Thursday 7 July 2011 at 2:08 pm

RB Fred Taylor was the best offensive player in Jaguars’ history.  Maurice Jones-Drew might have been able to make a claim for that distinction but he just can’t stay healthy.  Fred Taylor played 11 years with the Jaguars in which he played in 140 games in which he carried the ball 2,428 times for 11,271 yards (4.6 ypc) with 62 TD runs.  Taylor also caught 286 passes for 2,361 yards (8.3 avg) with 8 TD grabs in his career with the Jags.  Depsite putting up the great numbers that Taylor did….he only made it to 1 Pro Bowl with the Jaguars.  Taylor rushed for at least 1,146 yards in 7 of his 11 years with the Jaguars.  Taylor is the Jaguars’ all-time leading rusher (11,271) and he also leads the Jags in TD runs with 62 of them.  Taylor is #3 in receptions (286), #4 in receiving yards (2,361) and #13 in TD receptions (8) in Jacksonville Jaguars’ history.
