The Jaguars have signed 26-year old safety Darcel McBath and 23-year old cornerback Robert McClain.  McBath played in 7 games for the Broncos last year and he had 17 tackles and 1 pass defensed.  He has now played in 20 games in his first two years in the NFL and he has 43 tackles, 4 passes defensed and 2 interceptions.  Robert McClain played in all 16 games for the Panthers last year and he had 16 tackles and 1 pass defensed.  The Jaguars are hoping that these two guys can help them out down the stretch this year.

UPDATE:  (12/20/2011) – The Jaguars have placed Darcel McBath on the Injured Reserve List due to an undisclosed injury.  He played in 1 game for the Jaguars this year and he made 2 tackles.

UPDATE II:  (12/29/2011) – The Jaguars have waived CB Robert McClain.  He didn’t get into any games for the Jaguars this year.  The Jaguars have signed 27-year old OT Will Robinson to replace McClain on the active roster.  Robinson has played in 1 game in his NFL career, back in 2009 with the Redskins.

The Jacksonville Jaguars lose two rookie DBs for the rest of the season

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports,Jaguar Headlines by admin on Tuesday 13 December 2011 at 2:01 pm

The Jaguars have lost 24-year old safety Chris Prosinski (undisclosed injury) and 24-year old CB T.J. Heath (knee injury) for the rest of the year as they have both been placed on the Injured Reserve List.  Prosinski played in 13 games for the Jaguars this year and he had 19 tackles.  T.J. Heath played in 5 games and he didn’t record any tackles.  Heath is a local guy from Jacksonville State.  The Jaguars won’t miss these guys too much the rest of this year.

Jacksonville Jaguars 41, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 14

The Jacksonville Jaguars were down 14-0 in the first quarter to the Bucs and things weren’t looking too good.  The Jaguars then scored 28 points in the second quarter and never looked back.  Blaine Gabbert was better than usual as he completed 19 of 33 passes for 217 yards with 2 TD passes and 2 INTs.  Maurice Jones-Drew was incredible, as usual, with 27 carries for 85 yards (3.1 ypc) with 2 TD runs.  He also caught 6 passes for 51 yards (8.5 avg) with 2 TD grabs.  RB DuJuan Harris (1 carry for 24 yards) and FB Brock Bolen (1 carry for 10 yards) also pitched in for the Jaguars in the running game.  TE Marcedes Lewis (2 rec, 77 yards) and WR Jarrett Dillard (5 rec, 45 yards) pitched in for the Jaguars in the passing game yesterday.  The Jaguars finished up with 116 yards rushing on 33 carries (3.5 ypc) and they also completed 19 of 33 passes (57.6%) for 209 yards as they had possession of the ball for 32:49.

The defense and special teams were awesome for the Jaguars yesterday.  LBs Russell Allen (7 tackles, 1 pass defensed), Paul Poslusny (7 tackles, 2 passes defensed and 1 interception) and Daryl Smith (7 tackles 1 sack and a forced fumble that was recovered in the end zone for a TD by DT Nate Collins) led the way for the Jags on D in this game.  LB Colin Cloherty recovered a fumble on a punt return which he returned 8 yards for a TD.  CBs Kevin Rutland and Ashton Youboty pitched in with 1 interception apiece in this game.  The Buccaneers finished up with 110 yards rushing on 24 carries (4.6 ypc) and they also completed 17 of 32 passes (53.1%) for 170 yards.  The Jaguars are now 4-9 on the season.

The Jacksonville Jaguars place DE Aaron Kampman on I.R.

The Jaguars have placed 32-year old DE Aaron Kampman on the Injured Reserve List, ending his season due to a hamstring injury.  Kampman played in 3 games for the Jaguars this year and he didn’t have any tackles.  He has now played in 11 games in his first two years wiht the Jaguars and he has 25 tackles, 4 sacks, 2 tackles for a loss and 2 passes defensed.  Kampman is proving to be quite a huge free agent bust for the Jaguars.

Jacksonville Jaguars (3-9) vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-8)

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,This Week's Matchup Report by admin on Thursday 8 December 2011 at 10:24 pm

The Jaguars got thumped last Monday Night at home 38-14 by the San Diego Chargers, and they have now lost three games in a row.  The Buccaneers have lost six games in a row and they also got thumped at home last weekend, 38-19 by the Carolina Panthers.  Here is a look at the matchups in this game:

When the Jaguars have the ball:  The Jaguars are going to ride Maurice Jones-Drew hard in this game.  The Buccaneers are giving up 141.7 yards rushing per game and 4.7 yards per carry so far this year, so Jones-Drew could he in for an epic game for the Jaguars this Sunday.  The Bucs don’t have much of a pass defense either as they are giving up 252.2 yards passing so far this year.  Blaine Gabbert might actually have a decent game if some of his WRs and TEs step up and catch the football.  It’s hard to bank on that happening though.

When the Buccaneers have the ball:  Anyone who watched last Monday Night’s game against the Chargers knows that the Jags’ corners and safeties can’t cover too well on deep passes.  Josh Freeman is likely going to return to action for the Bucs this week, but he has a sore right shoulder.  So, the passing game will likely be shorter with WR Mike Williams and TE Kellen Winslow being his top targets this Sunday.  The Jags’ front seven is going to have to tighten up the chinstraps as RB LeGarrette Blount packs a wallop in the running game with his power.

PREDICTION:  BUCCANEERS 20, JAGUARS 17

The Jacksonville Jaguars place DE John Chick on I.R.

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports,Jaguar Headlines by admin on Wednesday 7 December 2011 at 2:48 pm

The Jaguars have signed 29-year old DE John Chick on the Injured Reserve List due to a nasty knee injury suffered against the Chargers last Monday Night.  He played in 11 games for the Jaguars this year and he had 8 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 1 forced fumble and he defensed 2 passes.  This is a bad break for both Chick and the Jaguars, as he was getting his big chance to show what he can do, and he was playing well.

The Jacksonville Jaguars sign safety Akwasi Onusu-Ansah

Blogged under Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General,Jaguar Headlines by admin on Wednesday 7 December 2011 at 2:45 pm

The Jaguars have signed 23-year old safety Akwasi Onusu-Ansah.  He played in 3 games for the Cowboys earlier this year and he had 2 tackles.  He also returned 6 punts for 47 yards (7.8 avg) and 3 kickoffs for 56 yards (18.7 avg) this year.  Akwasi Onusu-Ansah has played in 10 games in is first 2 years in the NFL and he has 3 tackles.  He has also returned 6 punts for 47 yards (7.8 avg) and 28 kickoffs for 599 yards (21.4 avg) so far in his NFL career.

Paul Poslusny has been rock solid for the Jacksonville Jaguars this year

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Tuesday 6 December 2011 at 5:06 pm

The Jaguars expected 27-year old linebacker Paul Poslusny to bring toughness to the defense when they signed him as a free agent.  He has done exactly that for them.  He has played in 12 games for the Jaguars this year and he has 95 tackles, 5 tackles for a loss, 2 sacks, 1 forced fumble, 6 passes defensed and 1 interception.  Poslusny has now played in 57 games in his first five years in the NFL and he has 492 tackles, 17 tackles for a loss, 5 sacks, 5 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, 20 passes defensed and 5 interceptions.

San Diego Chargers 38, Jacksonville Jaguars 14

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Tuesday 6 December 2011 at 1:13 pm

The Jacksonville Jaguars were overwhelmed by a very motivated San Diego Chargers team last night on Monday Night Football.  Blaine Gabbert completed 19 of 33 passes for 195 yards with 2 TD passes and 1 INT.  He also carried the ball 6 times for 19 yards (3.2 ypc) for the Jaguars last night.  Maurice Jones-Drew was a beast once again for the Jags last night.  He carried the ball 20 times for 97 yards (4.9 ypc) and he also caught 6 passes for 91 yards (15.2 avg) with 1 TD grab.  TE Marcedes Lewis (3 rec, 27 yards), TE Zach Potter (3 rec, 24 yards) and WR Cecil Shorts (1 rec, 5 yards, TD) also helped out for the Jaguars in the passing game last night.  The Jaguars finished up with 129 yards on 31 carries (4.2 ypc) and they completed 19 of 33 passes (57.6%) for 177 yards as they had possession of the ball for 31:43.

The Jaguars’ D got pushed around by the Chargers’ offense last night.  LB Paul Poslusny led the way for the Jaguars on D last night with 11 tackles.  LB Russell Allen (6 tackles) and CB Kevin Rutland (5 tackles) also pitched in for the Jaguars on D in this game.  The Chargers finished up with 139 yards rushing on 26 carries (5.3 ypc) and they also completed 22 of 28 passes (78.6%) for 294 yards in this game.  The Jaguars are now 3-9 on the year.

The Jacksonville Jaguars claim WR Taylor Price off waivers

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Jaguar Headlines by admin on Tuesday 6 December 2011 at 3:51 am

The Jaguars have claimed 24-year old WR Taylor Price off waivers from the New England Patriots.  Price played in 3 games for the Patriots earlier this year but he didn’t catch any passes.  He has now played in 4 games in his first two years in the NFL and he has caught 3 passes for 41 yards (13.7 avg).  With the state of the Jaguars at WR, it makes perfect sense of them to take a flier on a player like Price.
