The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed TE Martin Rucker

Blogged under Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General,Injury Reports,Jaguar Headlines by admin on Wednesday 19 October 2011 at 12:50 am

The Jaguars have signed 26-year old TE Martin Rucker off of the Dallas Cowboys’ practice squad.  Rucker played in 1 game for the Cowboys this year but he didn’t catch any passes.  Rucker has now played in 11 games in his first three years in the NFL and he has caught 2 passes for 17 yards (8.5 avg).  Rucker will try to replace Zach Miller who was placed on I.R. yesterday, ending his season.  To make room on the roster for Rucker, the Jaguars have placed 22-year old CB Rod Isaac on the Injured Reserve List due to a hamstring injury.  Isaac played in 3 games for the Jaguars this year but he didn’t have any tackles.

UPDATE:  (11/9/2011) – The Jaguars have placed Martin Rucker on I.R. due to an undisclosed problem.  He only played in 1 game for the Jaguars and he didn’t have any catches.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have brought back Mike Sims-Walker

Blogged under Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General,Jaguar Headlines by admin on Wednesday 19 October 2011 at 12:47 am

The Jaguars have signed 26-year old WR Mike Sims-Walker.  He was just released yesterday by the Rams after they acquired WR Brandon Lloyd in a deal with the Broncos.  Sims-Walker played in 4 games for the Rams this year and he caught 11 passes for 139 yards (12.6 avg).  He played in 38 games in his first stint with the Jaguars (three years) and he caught 122 passes for 1,648 yards (13.5 avg) with 14 TD grabs.  This was a good move for the Jaguars as Mike Sims-Walker knows the system and they need some more playmakers in the passing game.

The Jacksonville Jaguars sign punter Nick Harris

Blogged under Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General,Jaguar Headlines by admin on Tuesday 11 October 2011 at 11:14 pm

The Jaguars have signed 33-year old punter Nick Harris to replace Matt Turk.  Harris played in all 16 games for the Lions last year and he punted the ball 90 times for 4,018 yards (44.6 avg).  He also had 8 touchbacks (8.9%) and pinned the opponents inside their own 20-yard line 24 times (26.7%) last year.  Harris has now played in 159 games in his first 11 years in the NFL and he has punted the ball 804 times for 34,137 yards (42.5%).  He also has 60 touchbacks (7.5%) and pinned the opposition inside their own 20-yard line 226 times (28.1%) so far in his career.  Harris is a clear upgrade over Turk, so I love this signing for the Jaguars.

The Jacksonville Jaguars sign LS Jake Ingram

Blogged under Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General by admin on Saturday 27 August 2011 at 4:19 pm

The Jaguars have signed 25-year old long snapper Jake Ingram.  Ingram played in 9 games (0 starts) for the Patriots and Saints last year.  He has now played in 25 games (0 starts) in his first two years in the NFL.  Everyone seems to think that long snappers aren’t that important, unless of course, they have a bad one.  Ingram will get a shot to compete for the starting long snapper job in 2011.

UPDATE:  (9/4/2011) – The Jaguars have released Jake Ingram.

The Jacksonville Jaguars sign RB Albert Young

Blogged under Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General by admin on Tuesday 23 August 2011 at 6:47 pm

The Jaguars have signed 26-year old RB Albert Young.  Young played in 3 games (0 starts) for the Vikings last year and he carried the ball 13 times for 29 yards (2.2 ypc).  He also caught 2 passes for 11 yards (5.5 avg) last season, and they were the first of his NFL career.  Young has now played in 10 games (0 starts) in his first two years in the NFL and he has carried the ball 25 times for 82 yards (3.3 ypc).  Young might have a hard time making the Jaguars’ roster unless Maurice Jones-Drew, Rashad Jennings or Deji Karim get injured before the regular season starts.

UPDATE:  (9/3/2011) – The Jaguars have released Albert Young.

The Jacksonville Jaguars bring in a couple more free agents

Blogged under Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General by admin on Tuesday 16 August 2011 at 12:58 pm

The Jaguars have signed 28-year old linebacker Gerris Wilkinson and 24-year old punter Brent Bowden.  Wilkinson played in 12 games for the Giants last year and he had 8 tackles.  Wilkinson has now played in 58 games in his first five years in the NFL and he has 70 tackles, 2 forced fumbles, 2 passes defensed and 5 tackles for a loss.  Wilkinson will help out on special teams and maybe more if he can stay healthy in 2011.  Brent Bowden was a 6th round pick of the Buccaneers last year but he didn’t make the team out of training camp.  He was likely signed to provide Matt Turk with a little competition in training camp.

UPDATE:  (8/29/2011) – The Jaguars have released LB Gerris Wilkinson.

The Jacksonville Jaguars sign OLB/DE Matt Roth

Blogged under Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General by admin on Thursday 11 August 2011 at 3:17 pm

The Jaguars have signed 28-year old OLB/DE Matt Roth to a 1-year, $3 million dollar deal.  Roth played in all 16 games for the Browns last year and he had 86 tackles, 3.5 sacks, 2 passes defensed and 4 tackles for a loss.  He has now played in 87 games in his first six years in the NFL and he has 272 tackles, 20 sacks, 15 tackles for a loss, 6 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries and 8 passes defensed.  This was a great signing for the Jaguars as Roth will bring even more toughness to the front seven in 2011.

The Jacksonville Jaguars sign G/T Tony Moll

Blogged under Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General by admin on Thursday 11 August 2011 at 3:33 am

The Jaguars have signed 27-year old G/T Tony Moll.  Moll played in 16 games (3 starts) for the Ravens last year.  He has now played in 60 games (21 starts) over his first five years in the NFL.  Moll is a very solid offensive lineman and he could be a starter for the Jaguars by Week #1 if he looks good in the pre-season and training camp.  His versatility should really benefit the Jags’ O-Line in 2011.

The Jacksonville Jaguars sign Todd Bouman

Blogged under Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General by admin on Tuesday 9 August 2011 at 8:57 pm

The Jaguars have signed 38-year old QB Todd Bouman.  Bouman played in 1 game (1 start) for the Jaguars last year and he completed 18 of 34 passes (52.9%) for 222 yards with 2 TD passes and 2 INTs (68.5 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 2 times for 8 yards (4.0 ypc) last year.  Bouman has now played in 44 games (7 starts) in his first 7 years in the NFL and he has completed 147 of 264 passes (55.7%) for 1,905 yards with 13 TD passes and 13 INTs (74.4 QB Rating).  He also has carried the football 23 times for 94 yards (4.1 ypc) in his NFL career so far.  Bouman is 1-6 (14.3%) as a starting QB in the NFL.  It was smart of the Jaguars to bring Bouman into camp.

UPDATE:  (8/29/2011) – The Jaguars have released Todd Bouman.  Don’t be surprised to see the Jaguars call Bouman back if the need arises for a QB in 2011.

The Jacksonville Jaguars sign punter Durant Brooks

Blogged under Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General by admin on Saturday 6 August 2011 at 12:31 am

The Jaguars have signed 26-year old punter Durant Brooks to compete with veteran Matt Turk.  Brooks’ only experience in the NFL came back in 2008 with the Redskins.  Brooks played in 6 games for the Redskins in 2008 and he punted the ball 26 times for 1,030 yards (39.6 avg).  He didn’t have any touchbacks and he also pinned the opposing team inside their own 20-yard line 9 times (34.6%).  Brooks will have a hard time beating out Matt Turk for the starting punter job for the Jags in 2011.

UPDATE:  (8/12/2011) – The Jaguars have waived Durant Brooks.  Brooks played in last night’s pre-season game against the Patriots and he punted the ball 2 times for 79 yards (39.5 avg).
