The Jaguars have used their franchise tag on 29-year old kicker Josh Scobee.  Scobee played in all 16 games for the Jaguars last year and he connected on 23 of 25 (92%) field goals and all 24 of his extra points, good for 93 points.  He has now played in 120 games in his first 8 years with the Jaguars and he has made 167 of 212 field goals (78.8%).  Scobee has also nailed 254 of 257 extra points as he has now scored 755 points in his career so far.  Scobee is coming off a great year in 2011, so it made sense for the Jaguars to tag him and keep him around for 2012.

The Jaguars have signed 26-year old CB Trumaine McBride.  McBride played in 14 games for the Cardinals last year and he had 16 tackles and 1 pass defensed.  He has now played in 46 games in his first three years in the NFL and he has 68 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery, 8 passes defensed and 1 interception.  Don’t be surprised to see McBride play a lot this weekend against the Colts as the Jags are desperate at CB due to injuries.

The Jaguars have signed 28-year old safety C.C. Brown.  Brown played in 15 games for the Lions last year and he had 46 tackles, 4 passes defensed and 1 forced fumble.  He has now played in 81 games in his NFL career and he has 370 tackles, 1 sack, 8 tackles for a loss, 8 forced fumbles, 4 fumble recoveries, 23 passes defensed and 3 interceptions.  The Jaguars hope that Brown is ready to play because they are running out of safeties.

The Jaguars have signed 26-year old safety Darcel McBath and 23-year old cornerback Robert McClain.  McBath played in 7 games for the Broncos last year and he had 17 tackles and 1 pass defensed.  He has now played in 20 games in his first two years in the NFL and he has 43 tackles, 4 passes defensed and 2 interceptions.  Robert McClain played in all 16 games for the Panthers last year and he had 16 tackles and 1 pass defensed.  The Jaguars are hoping that these two guys can help them out down the stretch this year.

UPDATE:  (12/20/2011) – The Jaguars have placed Darcel McBath on the Injured Reserve List due to an undisclosed injury.  He played in 1 game for the Jaguars this year and he made 2 tackles.

UPDATE II:  (12/29/2011) – The Jaguars have waived CB Robert McClain.  He didn’t get into any games for the Jaguars this year.  The Jaguars have signed 27-year old OT Will Robinson to replace McClain on the active roster.  Robinson has played in 1 game in his NFL career, back in 2009 with the Redskins.

The Jaguars have signed 23-year old safety Akwasi Onusu-Ansah.  He played in 3 games for the Cowboys earlier this year and he had 2 tackles.  He also returned 6 punts for 47 yards (7.8 avg) and 3 kickoffs for 56 yards (18.7 avg) this year.  Akwasi Onusu-Ansah has played in 10 games in is first 2 years in the NFL and he has 3 tackles.  He has also returned 6 punts for 47 yards (7.8 avg) and 28 kickoffs for 599 yards (21.4 avg) so far in his NFL career.

The Jaguars have re-signed 26-year old cornerback David Jones.  Jones played in all 16 games for the Jaguars last year and he had 33 tackles, 1 interception, 3 passes defensed and 1 forced fumble.  He has now played in 49 games in his first four years in the NFL and he has 89 tackles, 1 interception, 10 passes defensed, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery.  The Jaguars are likely going to have to play Jones right away in nickel and dime sets this Monday Night against the Chargers.

The Jaguars have signed 26-year old CB Morgan Trent.  Trent played in 7 games for the Bengals & Colts this year and he has 6 tackles.  He has now played in 31 games in his first three years in the NFL and he has 60 tackles, 1 interception, 7 passes defensed, 1 fumble recovery, tackle for a loss and 7 passes defensed.  Trent might be able to help the Jaguars as they have suffered a lot of injuries at corner lately.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed 24-year old QB Dan LeFevour off of the Indianapolis Colts’ practice squad.  LeFevour was a 6th round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft.  He was selected by the Bears in the sixth round of the 2010 NFL Draft.  He has yet to play in an NFL game and he won’t this year barring injuries to Blaine Gabbert and Luke McCown.  Still, it’s nice to have 3 QBs on the roster, so I like this move for the Jags.

The Jaguars have signed 31-year old LB Kevin Bentley.  Bentley played in 13 games for the Texans last year and he had 55 tackles, 3 tackles for a loss, 1 fumble recovery, 1 interception and 1 pass defensed.  He has now played in 132 games in his first 9 years in the NFL and he has 412 tackles, 1 sack, 12 tackles for a loss, 2 forced fumbles, 5 fumble recoveries, 9 passes defensed and 2 interceptions.  The Jaguars will likely throw Bentley right into the fire this weekend against the Texans.

UPDATE:  (12/5/2011) – The Jaguars have waived Kevin Bentley.  He played in 1 game for them and he had 1 tackle.  The Jaguars won’t miss him going forward.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed 27-year old CB Ashton Youboty.  Youboty played in 13 games for the Bills last year and he had 2 tackles.  He has now played in 43 games in his first five years in the NFL and he has 60 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 1 interception, 7 passes defensed, 1 forced fumble and 2 sacks.  Youboty should be able to help the Jaguars on both special teams and in the defensive backfield.
