Cincinnati Bengals 30, Jacksonville Jaguars 20

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Monday 10 October 2011 at 3:28 am

The Bengals scored on the last play of the game defensively as the Jaguars were pitching the ball around trying for a miracle.  So the final score is not indicative of how well the Jags played today.  Rookie QB Blaine Gabbert hit WR Jason Hill with a 74-yard TD pass to give the Jaguars a 20-16 lead with only 8:24 left in the game today, so they had a good chance of actually winning at home today.  Gabbert completed 15 of 28 passes for 221 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 INTs today.  He also carried the ball 5 times for 11 yards (2.2 ypc) in this game.  Maurice Jones-Drew led the way on the ground for the Jags with 19 carries for 85 yards (4.5 ypc) with 1 TD run.  Deji Karim pitched in with 4 yards rushing on 2 carries (2.0 ypc) and he also caught 3 passes for 27 yards (9.0 avg).  WRs Jason Hill (5 rec, 126 yards, TD) and Mike Thomas (3 rec, 53 yards) led the way in the passing game for the Jaguars today.  The Jaguars finished up with 96 yards rushing on 27 carries (3.6 ypc) and they also completed 15 of 28 passes (53.6%) for 200 yards as they had possession of the ball for 27:27.

The defense was outstanding for the Jags except for the last half of the 4th quarter, and it cost them the game.  LBs Daryl Smith (9 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss and 1 pass defensed) and Paul Poslusny (9 tackles and 2 passes defensed) led the way for the Jaguars in this game.  DE Jeremy Mincey (5 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 sack and 4 QB hits) and safety Dwight Lowery (3 tackles, 1 pass defensed and 1 interception) also pitched in for the Jags in this game.  The Bengals finished up with 77 yards rushing on 31 carries (2.5 ypc) and they also completed 21 of 33 passes (63.6%) for 162 yards.  The Jaguars are now 1-4 on the season.

The Jacksonville Jaguars really stunk it up on both sides of the ball in this game.  Rookie QB Blaine Gabbert was overwhelmed by the Saints’ D in this game as he only completed 16 of 42 passes for 196 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 INT.  He also carried the ball 2 times for 14 yards (7.0 ypc) in this game.  Maurice Jones-Drew wasn’t used as much as he should have been in this game.  He carried the ball 11 times for 84 yards (7.6 ypc) and he caught 1 pass for 3 yards today.  WR Mike Thomas (5 rec, 73 yards), TE Marcedes Lewis (3 rec, 38 yards) and TE Zach Miller (1 rec, 14 yards, TD) led the way for the Jags in the passing game.  The Jaguars rushed for 104 yards on 17 carries (6.1 ypc) and they also completed 16 of 42 passes (38.1%) for 170 yards as they had possession of the ball for only 22:55 in this game.

The Jaguars’ D got pushed around pretty good by the Saints today.  LB Paul Poslusny (13 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 sack, 2 passes defensed and 2 QB hits), safety Dawan Landry (11 tackles, 1 pass defensed and 1 interception) and LB Daryl Smith (7 tackles, 1 pass defensed and 1 interception) led the way on D.  The Saints finished up with 177 yards rushing on 34 carries (5.2 ypc) and they also completed 31 of 44 passes (70.5%) for 326 yards.  The Jaguars are now 1-3 on the year.

Carolina Panthers 16, Jacksonville Jaguars 10

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Monday 26 September 2011 at 3:47 pm

The Jaguars left everything they had on the field yesterday in Carolina and they just came up a tad short.  Blaine Gabbert completed 12 of 21 passes for 139 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 INT in his NFL starting debut.  He also fumbled the ball three times but the Jags didn’t lose any of them.  Maurice Jones-Drew was incredible as usual for the Jags yesterday as he carried the ball 24  times for 122 yards (5.1 ypc).  He also caught 3 passes for 45 yards (15.0 avg) in this game.  Deji Karim pitched in with 4 yards rushing on 5 carries (0.8 ypc) and 2 catches for 19 yards (9.5 avg).  WR Mike Thomas led the way in the passing game for the Jags yesterday with 4 grabs for 55 yards (13.8 avg) with 1 TD grab.  The Jaguars finished up with 128 yards rushing on 34 carries (3.8 ypc) and they also completed 12 of 21 passes (57.1%) for 129 yards as they had possession of the ball for 30:26.

New York Jets 32, Jacksonville Jaguars 3

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Monday 19 September 2011 at 5:52 pm

The Jaguars got punched in the face all day long by the Jets yesterday.  Luke McCown might have had the worst game ever for a starting QB in NFL history yesterday.  He completed 6 of 19 passes for 59 yards with 0 TD passes and 4 INTs (1.8 QB Rating).  Rookie QB Blaine Gabbert finished up this game at QB for the Jags and he looked pretty good.  Gabbert completed 5 of 6 passes for 52 yards without a TD pass or INT.  Maurice Jones-Drew had another solid game with 88 yards rushing on 18 carries (4.9 ypc) and he also caught 3 passes for 19 yards (6.3 avg).  Deji Karim pitched in with 15 yards rushing on 6 carries (2.5 ypc) and he also caught 1 pass for 10 yards.  WR Mike Thomas (3 rec, 29 yards) and TE Zach Miller (3 rec, 28 yards) led the way in the passing game for the Jaguars yesterday.  The Jaguars finished up with 112 yards rushing on 27 carries (4.1 ypc) and they also completed 11 of 25 passes (44%) for 91 yards as they only had possession of the ball for 26:37.

Jacksonville Jaguars 16, Tennessee Titans 14

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Monday 12 September 2011 at 2:33 am

The Jaguars played keepaway today with their running game and it helped them top the Titans.  Luke McCown was pretty decent in his first start for the Jags as he completed 17 of 24 passes for 175 yards without a TD pass or INT.  McCown also carried the ball 5 times for 10 yards (2.0 ypc) in this game.  Maurice Jones-Drew got a lot of work in today as he carried the ball 24 times for 97 yards (4.0 ypc) with 1 TD run.  Deji Karim also played pretty good as he carried the ball 14 times for 33 yards (2.4 ypc) and he caught 3 passes for 39 yards (13.0 avg).  WRs Mike Thomas (8 rec, 55 yards) and Jason Hill (4 rec, 53 yards) led the way for the Jags in the passing game today.  The Jaguars finished up with 163 yards rushing on 47 carries (3.5 ypc) and they also completed 17 of 24 passes (70.8%) for 160 yards as they had possession of the ball for 39:38.

Houston Texans 34, Jacksonville Jaguars 17

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Monday 3 January 2011 at 7:20 pm

Trent Edwards and the Jags’ defense conspired to kill them yesterday.  Trent Edwards looked awful as he completed 12 of 25 passes for 140 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 INT.  He also carried the ball 4 times for 18 yards (4.5 ypc) in this game.  Rashad Jennings rushed for 108 yards on 22 carries (4.9 ypc) with 1 TD carry and he also caught 4 passes for 34 yards (8.5 avg).  Deji Karim pitched in with 52 yards rushing on 7 carries (7.4 ypc).  WR Jason Hill (3 rec, 68 yards) and TE Marcedes Lewis (4 rec, 26 yards, TD) led the way for the Jags in the passing game yesterday.  The Jaguars finished up with 198 yards rushing on 35 carries (5.7 ypc) and they also completed 12 of 25 passes for 124 yards.

The defense was absolutely pathetic for the Jags yesterday.  LB Kirk Morrison (13 tackles), safety Courtney Greene (9 tackles), CB Don Carey (8 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss) and DE Jeremy Mincey (8 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss) led the way for the Jags on D in this game.  The Texans finished up with 244 yards rushing on 37 carries (6.6 ypc) and they also completed 18 of 22 passes for 253 yards.  The Jaguars finished up in second place in the AFC South with a 8-8 record.

Washington Redskins 20, Jacksonville Jaguars 17 in O.T.

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Monday 27 December 2010 at 5:04 pm

The Jaguars really blew this game.  They won the coin flip in O.T. so they took the ball.  On the Jags’ third play of the O.T. period, David Garrard threw an interception to Redskins’ CB Kevin Barnes who returned the ball to the Jags’ 14-yard line.  That set up the Redskins’ game winning field goal!  This was a real shame as Garrard had a solid game until that pass.  Garrard completed 22 of 38 passes for 299 yards with 1 TD pass and 2 INTs.  He also carried the ball 6 times for 39 yards (6.5 ypc) with a TD run in this game.  Rashad Jennings had a rough time filling in for Maurice Jones-Drew in this game.  Jennings carried the ball 15 times for 32 yards (2.1 ypc) and he also caught 4 passes for 29 yards (7.3 avg).  WRs Mike Thomas (6 rec, 96 yards, TD) and Jason Hill (4 rec, 77 yards) led the way in the passing game for the Jags yesterday.  The Jaguars finished up with 78 yards rushing on 23 carries (3.4 ypc) and they also completed 22 of 38 passes for 258 yards in this game.

The Jaguars’ D really played solid football yesterday but it didn’t matter in the end.  LB Daryl Smith (9 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 pass defensed and 1 QB hit) and LB Russell Allen (8 tackles and 1 tackle for a loss) led the way for the Jaguars’ D in this game.  CB Derek Cox pitched in with 1 tackle, 1 pass defensed and 1 interception in this game.  The Redskins finished up with 79 yards rushing on 24 carries (3.3 ypc) and they also completed 19 of 39 passes for 172 yards.  The Jaguars are now 8-7 on the season and they still have a chance to win the AFC South.  If the Jags can win in Houston next week and the Titans beat the Colts in Indy, then the Jags will win the division.

Indianapolis Colts 34, Jacksonville Jaguars 24

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Tuesday 21 December 2010 at 3:19 pm

The Jaguars pulled within 3 points of the Colts with 1:54 left in this game, but, that is when Josh Scobee kicked one of the worst onside kicks I have ever seen!  Colts’ LB Tyjuan Hagler picked up Scobee’s kick and he returned it 41 yards for a TD to officially put the Jags out of their misery!  David Garrard really came to play in this game as he completed 24 of 38 passes for 294 yards with 2 TD passes and 1 INT.  He also carried the ball 4 times for 8 yards  (2.0 ypc) in this game.  Maurice Jones-Drew led the way on the ground for the Jags in this game with 46 yards on 15 carries (3.1 ypc) and he also caught 2 passes for 22 yards (11.0 avg).  Rashad Jennings carried the ball 3 times for 13 yards (4.3 ypc) and he also caught 7 passes for 64 yards (9.1 avg).  TE Marcedes Lewis (6 rec, 63 yards) and WR Mike Sims-Walker (4 rec, 42 yards, 2 TD grabs) led the way in the passing game for the Jags.  WR Mike Thomas also had a big game as he caught 3 passes for 63 yards (21.0 avg) and he also returned a punt 78 yards for a TD.  The Jaguars finished up with 67 yards rushing on 22 carries (3.0 ypc) and they also completed 24 of 38 passes for 289 yards.

The defense didn’t play too well in this game.  LB Daryl Smith came to play though as he led the way for the Jaguars with 15 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 1 sack, 1 pass defensed and 1 QB hit.  CB William Middleton pitched in with 8 tackles in this game.  The Colts finished up with 155 yards rushing on 24 carries (6.5 ypc) and they also completed 29 of 39 passes for 221 yards.  The Jaguars are still tied with the Colts atop the AFC South with a 8-6 record.

Jacksonville Jaguars 38, Oakland Raiders 31

The Jaguars were just good enough offensively yesterday to cover for a awful defensive effort.  David Garrard was solid in this game as he completed 11 of 22 passes for 159 yards with 3 TD passes and 1 INT.  He also carried the ball 5 times for 32 yards (6.4 ypc) in this game.  Rashad Jennings had a monster game for the Jags yesterday with 109 yards rushing on 5 carries (21.8 ypc) with a 74-yard TD run.  Maurice Jones-Drew also had a solid game with 23 carries for 101 yards (4.4 ypc) with 1 TD run and he also caught 3 passes for 19 yards (6.3 avg).  TE Marcedes Lewis (4 rec, 57 yards, TD), WR Jason Hill (1 rec, 48 yards, TD) and WR Mike Sims-Walker (2 rec, 23 yards, TD) led the way in the passing game for the Jags yesterday.  The Jaguars finished up with 234 yards rushing on 34 carries (6.9 ypc) and they also completed 11 of 22 passes for 151 yards.

Defensively the Jaguars were pathetic in this game.  LB Kirk Morrison (7 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss and 1 QB hit), CB Don Carey (6 tackles, 1 tackles for a loss, 1 pass defensed and 1 QB hit) and CB William Middleton (5 tackles, 1 sack, 1 tackle for a loss and 1 QB hit) led the way for the D in this game.  The Raiders finished up with 153 yards rushing on 25 carries (6.1 ypc) and they also completed 22 of 33 passes for 323 yards in this game.  The Jaguars are now 8-5 on the season and they have a one game lead on the Colts in the AFC South with a showdown next weekend in Indy.
