The Jaguars have signed 29-year old WR Kassim Osgood to a 3-year, $6.675 million dollar deal.  Osgood played in all 16 games for the Chargers last season in which he caught 1 pass for 17 yards and he had 15 tackles.  Osgood has now played in 92 games in his NFL career and he has caught 33 passes for 647 yards (19.6 avg) with 4 TD grabs.  He also has 97 tackles and 4 forced fumbles in his NFL career.  Osgood has been a outstanding special teams player in his NFL career but the Jaguars likely dangled more playing time at WR to seal the deal.

The Jacksonville Jaguars re-sign Troy Williamson

The Jaguars have re-signed 26-year old WR Troy Williamson to a 1-year, $1 million dollar deal.  Williamson played in 2 games for the Jaguars last season and he caught 3 passes for 34 yards (11.3 avg).  He has now played in 49 games in his NFL career and he has caught 87 passes for 1,131 yards (13.0 avg) with 4 TD grabs.  Williamson had his season cut short due to injury last year after playing outstanding in the pre-season.  He has awesome speed and that is the real reason the Jaguars signed him up again for 2010.

The Jacksonville Jaguars release three veterans

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Jaguar Headlines, General by admin on Friday 12 February 2010 at 12:21 pm

The Jaguars have released 33-year old WR Torry Holt, 35-year old OT Tra Thomas and 32-year old DT Rob Meier.  Holt only played one year with the Jaguars and he wasn’t the answer to their ongoing problems at WR.  He played in 15 games for the Jaguars last season and he caught 51 passes for 722 yards (14.2 avg) but oddly enough he didn’t have any TD grabs.  OT Tra Thomas played in 8 games (3 starts) last season for the Jaguars who have decided to go young at tackle.  DT Rob Meier didn’t play at all last season for the Jags.  He played in 138 games in his career with the Jaguars and he finished up with 228 tackles, 4 passes defensed, 21.5 sacks and 3 forced fumbles.  The Jaguars did the right thing in getting rid of these guys who just didn’t look like they could help the team much in 2010.

24-year old running back Maurice Jones-Drew has been elected to the Pro Bowl and he will be the only Jaguar there.  He has played in 15 games for the Jaguars this season and he has carried the ball 296 times for 1,309 yards (4.4 ypc) with 15 TD runs.  Jones-Drew has also caught 52 passes for 368 yards (7.1 avg) with 1 TD grab.  This was Jones-Drew’s first season as the featured back in the Jaguars’ offense and he showed that he is more than capable of handling the job.

The Jacksonville Jaguars lose Clint Ingram for the year

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Jaguar Headlines, Injury Reports, General by admin on Tuesday 22 December 2009 at 7:20 pm

The Jaguars will be without 26-year old linebacker Clint Ingram for the rest of the year due to a shoulder injury.  Ingram played in 13 games for the Jaguars this season and he made 52 tackles, 3 tackles for a loss and a sack.  This will hurt the playoff chances for the Jaguars as Ingram is a solid football player.
