The Jacksonville Jaguars release David Garrard

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Jaguar Headlines,Leaving Town by admin on Tuesday 6 September 2011 at 9:11 pm

The Jacksonville Jaguars have released 33-year old QB David Garrard.  Garrard played in 86 games (76 starts) in his 9 years with the Jaguars and he has completed 1,406 of 2,281 passes (61.6%) for 16,003 yards with 89 TD passes and 54 INTs (85.8 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 380 times for 1,746 yards (4.6 ypc) with 17 TD runs for the Jaguars.  The Jaguars were 39-37 (51.3%) during the regular season and 1-1 in the post-season in games started by Garrard.  I think this is a very dumb move by the Jaguars as Garrard is still a very decent starting NFL QB.

The Jacksonville Jaguars release CB Terrence Wheatley

The Jaguars have released 26-year old CB Terrence Wheatley.  Wheatley played in 1 game for the Jags last year and he didn’t record any tackles.  He has played in 11 games in his first three years in the NFL and he has 4 tackles and 2 passes defensed.  This is no loss to the Jaguars as Wheatley is running out of chances to prove himself at the NFL level.

The Jacksonville Jaguars release CB Tyron Brackenridge

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Jaguar Headlines,Leaving Town by admin on Sunday 31 July 2011 at 2:24 am

The Jaguars have cut 27-year old CB Tyron Brackenridge.  He played in all 16 games for the Jaguars last year and he had 16 tackles and 2 forced fumbles.  Brackenridge played in 32 games in his two years with the Jags and he had 49 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 4 passes defensed and 4 forced fumbles.  The Jaguars will consider this move as addition by subtraction as they continue to rebuild the secondary.

The Jaguars have released 31-year old guard Vince Manuwai.  Manuwai played in 16 games (11 starts) for the Jaguars last year.  He played in 111 games (105 starts) in his 8 years in Jacksonville.  Manuwai came to training camp in pretty bad physical shape which is what led to his release.  They will look to try to replace him in free agency.

The Jacksonville Jaguars release DE Derrick Harvey

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Jaguar Headlines,Leaving Town by admin on Sunday 31 July 2011 at 2:06 am

The Jaguars have released 24-year old DE Derrick Harvey.  Harvey played in 15 games for the Jaguars last year and he had 12 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 2.5 sacks and he defensed 1 pass.  He played in 47 games in three years with the Jaguars and he had 88 tackles, 6 tackles for a loss, 8 sacks, 1 fumble recovery, 1 interception and he defensed 5 passes.  Harvey was a huge bust for the Jaguars and they won’t miss him one bit.

The Jacksonville Jaguars release OG Justin Smiley

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Jaguar Headlines,Leaving Town by admin on Thursday 28 July 2011 at 11:43 pm

The Jaguars have released 29-year old guard Justin Smiley.  Smiley played in 5 games (all starts) in his only year with the Jags (2010).  He has now played in 88 games (78 starts) in his first 7 years in the NFL.  Smiley will hook on with another team but the Jaguars just weren’t that impressed with him as he had huge issues trying to stay healthy.

The Jacksonville Jaguars claim Jason Hill off waivers

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Jaguar Headlines,Leaving Town by admin on Wednesday 17 November 2010 at 11:16 pm

The Jaguars have claimed 25-year old WR Jason Hill off waivers from the 49ers.  Hill played in 2 games for the 49ers this year but he didn’t catch any passes.  Hill has played in 34 games in four years in the NFL and he has caught 40 passes for 413 yards (10.3 avg) with 4 TD grabs.  To make room on the roster for Hill, the Jaguars have released CB Chevis Jackson.  The 24-year old Jackson played in 2 games for the Jags this year but he didn’t make any tackles.

The Jacksonville Jaguars waive three players

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Jaguar Headlines,Leaving Town by admin on Wednesday 10 November 2010 at 11:34 am

The Jaguars have waived QB Todd Bouman, DT Landon Cohen and OT Erik Pears.  Bouman played in 1 game (1 start) for the Jaguars this year and he completed 18 of 34 passes for 222 yards with 2 TD passes and 2 INTs (68.5 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 2 times for 5 yards (2.5 ypc).  With David Garrard & Trent Edwards healthy the Jaguars didn’t feel the need to have three QBs on the roster.  They will have Bouman’s # on speed dial just in case one of the other two QBs get injured.  Cohen played in 2 games for the Jaguars this year and he had 2 tackles.  Pears did not get into any games with the Jags in his time with them.  The Jaguars won’t miss any of these guys.

The Jacksonville Jaguars waive LB Eric Alexander

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Jaguar Headlines,Leaving Town by admin on Wednesday 3 November 2010 at 5:40 pm

The Jaguars have waived 28-year old linebacker Eric Alexander.  Alexander played in 4 games for the Jaguars this year and he had 3 tackles.  He has played in 48 games in his six years in the NFL and he has 51 tackles and 1 forced fumble.  The Jaguars won’t miss Alexander too much, it at all.

The Jacksonville Jaguars release Gerald Alexander

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Jaguar Headlines,Leaving Town by admin on Wednesday 20 October 2010 at 4:30 pm

The Jaguars have released 26-year old safety Gerald Alexander.  Alexander played in 3 games for the Jags this year and he had 16 tackles, 3 passes defensed and 1 fumble recovery.  He played in 18 games in his two years with the Jaguars and he had 71 tackles, 8 passes defensed, 3 forced fumbles and 2 interceptions.  Sean Considine is ready to return to action and this is likely part of the reason that Alexander is out of work right now.
