St. Louis Rams 24, Jacksonville Jaguars 17

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,The Pre-Season by admin on Friday 2 September 2011 at 8:49 pm

The Jaguars couldn’t stop the Rams’ passing attack or more the ball offensively, so it’s no mystery as to why they lost last night.  David Garrard looked awful as he only completed 1 of 5 passes for 11 yards.  Blaine Gabbert was so-so in completing 9 of 18 passes for 132 yards.  Luke McCown finished up this game at QB by completing 4 of 9 passes for 47 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 INTs.  Deji Karim led the way on the ground for the Jags in this game with 58 yards rushing on 8 carries (7.3 ypc).  DuJuan Harris pitched in with 15 yards rushing on 5 carries (3.0 ypc) with 1 TD run.  He also caught 1 pass for 17 yards.  WRs Jamar Newsome (4 rec, 83 yards) and Cecil Shorts III (2 rec, 16 yards, TD) led the way in the passing game for the Jaguars.  The Jaguars finished up with 104 yards rushing on 23 carries (4.5 ypc) and they also completed 14 of 32 passes (43.8%) for 188 yards as they only had the ball for 23:09.

The Jaguars didn’t play good at all against the pass but they did stuff the Rams’ running game last night.  DT Nate Collins led the way for the Jags in this game with 6 tackles, 4 tackles for a loss, 2 sacks and 3 QB hits.  DE Austen Lane (7 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss and 1 QB hit) and CB Terrence Wheatley (4 tackles, 1 pass defensed and 1 interception (he returned it 35 yards for a TD) also had solid games for the Jags.  The Rams finished up with 68 yards rushing on 34 carries (2.0 ypc) and they also completed 25 of 36 passes (69.4%) for 351 yards.  The Jaguars finished up the preseason with a 1-3 record.

Rookie RB DuJuan Harris is looking good for the Jacksonville Jaguars

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up,The Pre-Season by admin on Monday 29 August 2011 at 7:10 pm

22-year old undrafted rookie RB DuJuan Harris is making a big impression on the Jaguars despite only standing 5’7″, 197 pounds.  Harris has played in all 3 preseason games for the Jaguars so far and he has carried the ball 16 times for 76 yards (4.8 ypc).  He also has caught 5 passes for 22 yards (4.4 avg) with 1 TD grab.  Harris is still going to have a hard time making the team because he has Maurice Jones-Drew, Rashad Jennings and Deji Karim ahead of him on the depth chart.

The Jaguars had this game in the bag until the Bills scored the last 18 points last night to beat them in O.T.  David Garrard started and he looked so-so in completing 11 of 21 passes for 106 yards with 0 TD passes and 0 INTs.  Garrard also carried the ball 3 times for 9 yards (3.0 ypc) with 1 TD run last night.  Blaine Gabbert finished up the game last night by completing only 6 of 13 passes for 52 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 INT.  He also carried the ball 3 times for 26 yards (8.7 ypc) last night.  RB DuJuan Harris led the way on the ground for the Jags last night with 41 yards rushing on 9 carries (4.6 ypc).  He also caught 2 passes for 9 yards (4.5 avg) with 1 TD grab.  Albert Young looked impressive in his first action with the Jags as he carried the ball 3 times for 21 yards (7.0 ypc) last night.  FB Brock Bolen pitched in with 16 yards rushing on 6 carries (2.7 ypc) with 1 TD run in this game.  WR Mike Thomas led the way in the air for the Jags last night with 5 grabs for 40 yards (8.0 avg).  The Jaguars finished up with 145 yards rushing on 32 carries (4.5 ypc) and they also completed 17 of 34 passes (50%) for 135 yards last night.  They are now 1-2 on the preseason.

The defense was pretty awful for the Jaguars last night.  LBs Scott Lutrus (7 tackles), Daryl Smith (7 tackles) and Paul Poslusny (6 tackles and 1 tackle for a loss) led the way for the Jags’ D last night.  CB Jalil Johnson made an impact on D last night for the Jaguars with 3 tackles, 1 pass defensed and 1 interception.  LB Jacob Cutrera picked off a pass that he returned 16 yards for a TD.  The Bills rushed for 153 yards on 37 carries (4.1 ypc) and they also completed 26 of 46 passes (56.5%) for 290 yards last night.  The Jaguars are now 1-2 on the preseason.

Jacksonville Jaguars 15, Atlanta Falcons 13

The Jaguars showed off a good defense last night and just enough offense to make it stand up.  David Garrard got into his first action of the pre-season as he completed 7 of 12 passes for 99 yards with 0 TD passes and 1 interception.  He also carried the ball 2 times for 7 yards (3.5 ypc) last night.  Blaine Gabbert had another rough game last night as he completed 11 of 23 passes for 96 yards with 0 TD passes and 0 INTs.  Gabbert also carried the ball 1 time for 9 yards last night.  Luke McCown came to the rescue last night as he led the Jags to victory.  McCown completed 8 of 9 passes for 86 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 INTs.  RB DuJuan Harris led the way for the Jaguars on the ground last night with 32 yards on 6 carries (5.3 ypc).  He also caught 3 passes for 13 yards (4.3 ypc) last night.  WRs Cecil Shorts III (5 rec, 52 yards) and Armon Binns (2 rec, 20 yards, TD) led the way in the passing game for the Jags last night.  The Jaguars finished up with 55 yards rushing on 26 carries (2.1 ypc) and they also completed 26 of 44 passes (59.1%) for 261 yards in this game.

The Jaguars didn’t really have any standout performances by any individuals last night.  But, they played outstanding team defense in this game.  The Falcons finished up with 72 yards rushing on 20 carries (3.6 ypc) and they also completed 17 of 29 passes (58.6%) for 192 yards last night.  The Jaguars are now 1-1 on the pre-season.

New England Patriots 47, Jacksonville Jaguars 12

The Jaguars didn’t have much of a chance in Foxboro last night despite the Patriots not using many of their regular players, and that is scary.  Rookie Blaine Gabbert got the start last night and he was so-so in completing 9 of 16 passes for 85 yards.  Todd Bouman finished the game and he struggled in completing only 2 of 10 passes for 35 yards with 0 TD passes and 1 INT.  RBs Richard Murphy (7 carries, 43 yards, 6.1 ypc) and Rashad Jennings (6 carries, 28 yards and 4.7 ypc) led the way on the ground for the Jaguars last night.  Deji Karim made the biggest impact for the Jaguars last night.  He carried the ball 6 times for 24 yards (4.0 ypc) and he also caught 1 pass for 4 yards last night.  He also returned 3 kickoffs for 126 yards (42.0 avg) last night for the Jags.  WR Jason Hill led the way in the passing game for the Jags last night with 3 grabs for 37 yards (12.3 avg).  The Jaguars rushed for 98 yards on 23 carries (4.3 ypc) and they completed 11 of 26 passes (42.3%) for 95 yards as they only had possession of the ball for 25:05 last night.

LB Kyle Bosworth led the way for the Jags on D last night with 8 tackles and 1 pass defensed.  Safeties Mike Hamlin (7 tackles), Terrell Whitehead (6 tackles) and Dawan Landry (3 tackles and 1 interception) were also pretty darn busy last night.  The Patriots rushed for 141 yards on 41 carries (3.4 ypc) and they completed 27 of 40 passes (67.8%) for 335 yards last night.  The Jaguars have a lot of work to do on both sides of the ball.

Jacksonville Jaguars 13, Atlanta Falcons 9

The Jaguars didn’t do much on offense last night but it was enough because of the defense.  Luke McCown started this game and he completed 5 of 12 passes for 39 yards.  Undrafted rookie QB Trevor Harris finished up this game by completing 8 of 12 passes for 86 yards.  RB Chad Kackert led the way for the Jags on the ground last night with 10 carries for 46 yards (4.6 ypc).  He also added 2 catches for 10 yards last night.  Kolby Smith pitched in with 27 yards rushing on 11 carries (2.5 ypc) last night.  Fullback Brock Bolen had another solid game with 3 carries for 16 yards (5.3 ypc) with a TD run.  The Jaguars could only muster 90 yards rushing (3.2 ypc) and 112 yards passing last night.

The Jaguars grinded out a victory last night in a very overmatched opponent in the Tampa Bay Bucs who were playing without their starting QB Josh Freeman.  David Garrard was solid for the most part as he completed 24 of 31 passes for 211 yards with 1 INT.  Luke McCown was so-so last night as he completed 9 of 14 passes for 76 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 INT.  He also carried the ball 5 times for 14 yards (2.8 ypc) in this game.  FB Brock Bolen led the way on the ground for the Jags in this game with 26 yards rushing on 7 carries (3.7 ypc) and he also caught 4 passes for 40 yards (10.0 avg).  FB Montell Owens pitched in with 24 yards rushing on 6 carries (4.0 ypc) last night.  Rashad Jennings pitched in with 9 yards rushing on 4 carries (2.3 ypc) last night but he helped out in the passing game with 36 yards receiving on 4 grabs (9.0 avg).  WRs Mike Thomas (5 rec, 30 yards and 1 carry for 18 yards) and John Matthews (1 rec, 27 yards, TD) led the way for the Jags in the passing game.  The Jaguars finished up with 109 yards rushing (3.6 ypc) and 287 yards passing in this game as the Jags had possession of the ball for 39:00 in this game.

Miami Dolphins 27, Jacksonville Jaguars 26

The Jaguars defense failed them again last Saturday Night.  David Garrard looked solid in completing 6 of 8 passes for 79 yards with 1 TD pass.  Luke McCown continued his outstanding play this pre-season by completing 14 of 23 passes for 152 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 INT.  Rashad Jennings led the way for the Jaguars on the ground in this game with 26 yards rushing on 3 carries (8.7 ypc).  Fullback Brock Bolen pitched in with 3 carries for 7 yards (2.3 ypc) and a TD run.  Bolen also caught 2 passes for 7 yards (3.5 avg) with a TD grab.  WRs Mike Sims-Walker (3 rec, 64 yards), Jarrett Dillard (3 rec, 43 yards) and Mike Thomas (2 rec, 27 yards, TD) led the way in the passing game for the Jaguars on Saturday Night.  The Jaguars finished up with 54 yards rushing (2.8 ypc) and 221 yards passing in this game.

Philadelphia Eagles 28, Jacksonville Jaguars 27

You certainly can’t blame the offense for this loss as they only had possession of the ball for 19:19 in this game.  David Garrard didn’t look too good in completing 5 of 10 passes for 35 yards.  Luke McCown replaced him and he was awesome!  McCown completed 11 of 15 passes for 244 yards with 3 TD passes and 0 INTs.  Before you jump the gun though Jags’ fans, McCown is the #2 QB and that is what he’ll be when the season starts unless Garrard is injured.  Trevor Harris finished up the game at QB for the Jags last night and he completed 6 of 9 passes for 30 yards.  The Jaguars didn’t run much as they were playing from behind most of this game.  WR Troy Williamson caught 2 passes for 101 yards (50.5 avg) including a snag of 73 yards for a TD.  WR Tiquan Underwood only caught 1 pass and it went for a 55-yard TD from McCown.  WR John Matthews was also impressive catching 4 passes for 41 yards including 1 grab that went for a 30-yard TD.  The Jaguars finished up with 14 yards rushing (1.6 ypc) and 302 passing yards in this contest.

The defense was awful against both the run and the pass last night.  LBs Freddie Keiaho (5 tackles, 1/2 sack, 1 QB hit) and Tony Gilbert (5 tackles) led the way for the Jags’ D last night.  Safety Reggie Nelson pitched in with 5 tackles and 1 pass defensed.  The Eagles finished up with 211 yards rushing (5.1 ypc) and 285 yards passing last night.

Linebackers Tim Shaw and Adam Seward led the way for the Jags’ D with 4 tackles apiece.  The Redskins finished up with 254 total yards on offense (57 rushing, 197 passing) in this game.  The Jaguars finished up with a 1-3 record in the pre-season.
